A message from the President, Andrew Yeager

To all ASAP-NJ members, colleagues and friends;

I am feeling both honored and challenged as I take over the presidency of ASAP-NJ.
     As you know, this past year has been a very difficult time for the SAC position due to tough economic times, budget cuts, and unfavorable political leadership in Trenton.   We lost many SAC positions throughout the state while simultaneously increasing demands on those remaining, particularly as a result of the extensive anti-bullying mandates.  But as always, the resilience and commitment of SACs throughout the State enabled us to provide the highest quality services possible.

     As I move from Vice-President to President of ASAP-NJ, I remain committed to assisting all SACs and related professionals in our collective efforts to provide this quality of care to our students and their families.  At the same time, I will do everything possible to move forward with all of our current legislative initiatives and lobbying efforts, and create additional professional development opportunities for us all.  With Jon Gaspich remaining with ASAP-NJ as Vice-President and legislative chair, and a strong, talented, and highly committed Executive Board and Regional Chairs, I am optimistic and excited for the future of our organization.

     With your support added to our collective voice, we will continue to address the important issues facing our youth and lobby for effective legislation.   We will continue in our role as an essential spoke in the prevention, intervention, and treatment wheel.  We will continue to evolve as an Association to provide members with responsive leadership and enhanced professional development opportunities.

     I am also looking forward to seeing many of you at the 26th annual ASAP-NJ conference on February 2nd and 3rd in Atlantic City.  This conference provides us with the unique opportunity to enhance our professional knowledge and skills; learn from some of the most experienced professionals in the field; and develop and reinforce important personal and professional relationships.

Until then, keep up the phenomenal work you are all doing.

Andrew Yeager
